Introduction

Founded in 1965, the Dallas Nursing Institute offers a vocational degree in the field of nursing. This degree program prepares the student to enter the field of nursing and prepares the student to have a successful career. Students take classes in numerous aspects of nursing, including proper nursing procedures, patient care and assessment, body growth and development, medication administration, body systems, proper patient care, and medical terminology. These classes will prepare students to gain employment in facilities such as hospitals, clinics, medical corrections, and doctor offices.

Academics

The program of study lasts for 51 weeks. The nursing program distinguishes learning in three different categories: intellectual, psychomotor, and affective. The different courses required for the programs, such as lab skills, theory courses and clinical settings, assist in giving the students a diverse experience that will prepare them for the field. Once a student completes the program, he or she will be prepared to take and successfully pass the NCLEX RN, applying all logical reasoning, practices, and clinical judgment in their field of practice. Additionally, professors prepare students for licensure, which is a very important component in the nursing field.

Students who have already received training in a school of nursing may enroll in the program. They may continue in the same area of study or enter DNI’s transition program to reduce the number of required courses to receive their degrees.

Accreditation is granted by the Accreditation Bureau of Health Education Schools.

Unique Programs

Classes are offered online for the student who leads a very busy life, and still wishes to pursue their degree. Each student is still required to fill out all admissions and financial aid information and meet required deadlines.

Online classes differ from traditional classes in that all course work is completed via the internet and then submitted via assigned email or through a portal that holds the online class. In choosing this route, all dialogue is done with teacher and student via the course room. Because there is no live interaction amongst students or teachers, the student must make sure he or she studies and reviews their lessons on a day to day basis as if they were attending class.

A student must be well-disciplined and focused on receiving the desired degree to be successful in this style of learning, which allows a student to attend classes on their own time and within their own time constraints. To become an online learner, students should know basic computer skills and it is highly recommended that each student own their own computer, or have regular access to one.

Admissions

To be considered for admissions, a student must possess a high school diploma or a GED. The student should contact DNI to schedule an appointment for an interview. All prospective students must go through the interviewing process. The student should complete any other mandatory request including completing an enrollment packet. There is no deadline for admissions; however, classes start on specific dates during each term. This and other information is readily available online, or by contacting the Office of Admissions.

Financial Aid

Financial aid is available in the form of loans, grants, and work study. The purpose of financial aid is to support the student in achieving their educational goals. Each student is required to meet with the financial aid department. The student will be required to fill out a Free Application for Federal Student Aid, also known as a FAFSA.

The student must submit all required forms to the federal government to determine the type of financial assistance he or she is eligible to receive. Depending on the student’s means and ability to pay for tuition, a payment plan can be agreed upon and put in place by the financial adviser and the student.

Founded in 1841, Dallas is the second largest city in Texas and the ninth largest in the United States. The economy is primarily based on banking, computer technology, energy, and transportation.

Dallas Nursing Institute is part of the ATI School and Colleges system. The ATI system has 24 campuses across Arizona, Florida, Oklahoma, New Mexico and Texas. ATI schools prepare students for careers in fields such as healthcare, automotive repair, heating, welding, air condition repair and technology.

ATI is an accredited system receiving its accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges, or ACCSC.

The school believes in graduating highly competent students and as a result, has staffed their faculty with highly seasoned, reputable teachers.
