Academics

PIT offers a vast array of academic programs for matriculates to choose from. The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology’s Allied Health Programs has long been a main source of education and training for regional health industry workers. The program offers numerous career certificates, such as those for pharmacy technician or practical nursing. PIT’s Allied Health Program also includes three Associate degree options, those of Allied Health Technology, Allied Health Technology/Pre-Nursing Track, and Medical Office Management Technology. The Pennsylvania Institute of Technology also has programs in business, information technology, and engineering. Within the business program, two Associate degrees are offered, and in the information technology and engineering programs, numerous Associate degrees and career certificates are offered. PIT strives to provide its students not only with exceptional classroom instruction, but with real-world opportunities related to their field of interest. Thus while homework assignments, essays, and readings are undoubtedly an essential and integral part of any student’s education at PIT, the school also emphasizes the importance of hands-on, practical training for its matriculates.

Unique Programs

One unique, and very popular, program offered by the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology is the Drexel at PIT program. Through this program, students at PIT can utilize their first two years of coursework towards completing their requirements for their Bachelor’s Degree from Drexel. Thus the program essentially allows current PIT students to spend their first two years completing the equivalent coursework required by Drexel. Students then simply finish their last two years with Drexel, and receive their Bachelor’s degree. There are numerous PIT majors available for those participating in this program, including, but not limited to: mechanical engineering technology, business administration technology, allied health technology, and architectural engineering technology. Students interested in the Drexel program must apply through PIT, and must plan to have completed their associate’s degree before matriculating at Drexel.

Admissions

Those considering attending the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology can apply online by downloading the official application from the school’s website. Further information may also be requested at the official PIT site. Those applying will need to specify their desired location, either the Media Campus, located on Manchester Avenue, or the Center City Location, located at 6th & Walnut Street. The admissions office of the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology is open from 8 am-7 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, from 8 am-5 pm Wednesday, and from 8 am-4:30 pm Friday. PIT seeks to enroll students from diverse backgrounds, who share a common interest in learning and advancing their knowledge and skill sets. Applications for admittance to the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology are reviewed on a rolling basis. Thus although preference is not given to those who apply earlier in the academic year, it is generally advised that students apply as soon as possible due to the limited number of seats available in each class.
