Academics

Officially established in 1985 as an institution providing short-term training courses for computer service and sales, the DCI Career Institute has grown from a simple training organization to an incorporated company. Now, the school offers full-time continuing education classes in more subjects than just computer networks, including business information specialists, medical assistance and massage therapy. Additionally, the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training officially accredited the institution in 1991.

Admissions

In order to apply to the DCI Career Institute, applicants must schedule and attend an interview with an admissions representative as well as take and pass a school-administered basic assessment test. A high school transcript or proof of a GED must be included within the application, as well as a signed copy of the school

Financial Aid

All students at the DCI Career Institute interested in financial aid must fill out both the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) and a financial aid application before being considered for any possible monetary assistance. Once the school receives the processed results from the federal application, they will deem eligibility with regards to monetary assistance.

Aid is provided through Career Link, job services, vocational programs and other organizations, both federal and non-federal. Through participation with the Federal Pell Grant Program and the Federal Family Education Loan Program, the DCI Career Institute provides students with additional loans, grants and scholarships. In fact, students become automatically considered for such awards as the Merit Scholarship and the Family Scholarship upon submission of all required applications and documents.

Students

Since it is a private, for-profit institution, the student body of the DCI Career Institute is quite small, with around 150 full-time students per year. The majority of students are women and the most populated age demographics are between the 20 to 30 year range.

Because of the small student body, the school does not offer any on-campus or off-campus housing. However, there is a variety of lodging available within Monaca, Pennsylvania, not to mention that Pittsburgh is located only 22 miles away.

Out of the classroom, the nearby city of Pittsburgh offers all of the restaurants, bars and clubs to satisfy all of those nightlife urges. Additionally, such museums as the Andy Warhol Museum are housed within the city, allowing DCI Career Institute students to check out some famous, modern art.
