Introduction

Established in 1899 by Dr. John Draughon as Draughon’s Practical Business College; South University-Savannah enjoys an old tradition of distinction in education and personalized student attention. Since its inception, the institute has experienced sustained growth transforming from a two-year college into a full-fledged university offering four-year degree programs. Apart from the campus in Savannah, the University also operates campuses in Columbia, Austin, Dallas, Fort Worth, Montgomery, Novi, Richmond and Virginia Beach, Tampa and West Palm Beach.

It also holds other discipline-based accreditations from agencies such as Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs; American Bar Association; Commission on Accreditation of Physical Therapy Education of the American Physical Therapy Association; Accreditation Review Commission on Education for Physician Assistant; Programs Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant; and more.

The University awards associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in diverse areas of study such as accounting, accelerated MBA, business administration, healthcare administration, information systems & technology, leadership, and public administration.

The Savannah University business administration associate’s program is designed to offer students a broad exposure to the responsibilities and requirements of running a business. The Associate of Science degree program in Business Administration at South University- Savannah provides an opportunity to the students to gain an understanding of management concepts required for an entry-level management career.

Students are exposed to the basics of finance, management, accounting, economics, and consumer behavior. Admissions

Freshman students seeking admission to South University-Savannah must be a high school graduate or the equivalent. Applicants must send the complete admission form, along with official transcripts, and SAT/ ACT score to the institute. Getting a transfer to the institute is quite easy. Transfer students must meet the criteria established by the university. International students are also encouraged to apply for admission.

Financial Aid

South University-Savannah believes in providing equal educational opportunity to all. Hence, it offers a variety of financial aid programs through various mediums such as grants, loans, scholarships, and federal work study programs. All applicants must complete the online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Federal loans are the type of financial aid that must be returned with interest. South University-Savannah boasts an enrollment of more than 1,300 students. The students enjoy an active campus life with excellent education facilities and extracurricular activities. The library at Savannah University houses a large collection that includes extensive law, business and medical books, reference materials, journals, magazines, and online resources. As a student, you can retrieve the articles in print and electronic formats from the collection of periodicals, many of which are available anywhere from on or off-campus. Some of the sources include WESTLAW, EbscoHost, and PQ Central.

The university also offers housing facilities to the students. The housing environment in which students live in while attending South University creates a big difference in their overall educational experience. Moving to a new, strange city and starting college life can be overwhelming. Thus, the Office of Student Affairs department offers school-sponsored housing to help you in meeting students’ housing needs.

South University contracts with local apartment communities to provide housing to students who wish to reside in an environment with other university students. The university groups the students based on their likes and dislikes, study habits, academic levels, and program of study.

The school-sponsored apartments are suitably located near the South University Savannah campus. All apartments are well equipped with modern amenities such as full kitchens with a refrigerator, stove, microwave oven, and dishwasher. The Career Center at South University offers counseling services to assist students in resolving academic, career, and personal issues. The university counselors help students plan their academic programs and offer support in adapting to the demands of university-level studies. Personal counseling sessions are offered to students seeking assistance in understanding and solving individual personal problems. Counseling services are available on all campuses by appointment.

The Employment Center at South University helps students find the right job opportunities in their field of interest. Students seeking part-time and full-time jobs can seek assistance from the center. The services include job search strategies, personality development, skills enhancement, and other career related services.
